Because if it'south our last fourth dimension to say, 'I dearest you lot,' and then let it be that we didn't forget that."[ii]

The song received disquisitional acclamation. Nate Chinem from New York Times wrote that the vocal is "a afar cousin to Prince'due south 'Purple Pelting'."[three] J. Freedom du Lac from Washington Post agreed, writing that "the sexy, Prince-ly runway is past far the anthology's all-time track.[four] Rodney Dugue from Spin wrote that the vocal is a "dreamy lullaby, where she ponders whether she'll be appreciated after a lover stops calling her proper noun."[5] Edna Gundersen from Us Today praised the track, referring to it as an "instant and enchanting archetype, where Keys only dazzles, demonstrating her lock on the time to come regardless of the industry's fate."[6] Stephanie Merrit from The Observer called it a "sweet, caramel-smooth track."[vii]

Nick Levine wrote for Digital Spy a very positive review, writing that it is "a smoochy, seductive soul carol, built around a delicate, Oriental-sounding pianoforte riff, information technology gives Keys plenty of chance to prove off her blatant, Mariah-esque upper register. Best of all, like all Keys' well-nigh impressive moments, its melody has a timeless quality that allows information technology to transcend its modish R&B production."[viii]
